Ellis is South Carolina’s
all-time winning quarterback. He was introduced into the University
of South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005, and in 1997,
the SEC and the University of South Carolina named Ellis an “SEC
Legend.”
Ellis Received his B.S. in History from USC in 1989. Immediately
after graduation, he was drafted by the Denver Broncos in 1990
and then played for the Sacramento Surge of the World League
for one season. In 1992, Ellis returned to USC to enter
into the University of South Carolina School of Law, receiving
his Juris Doctor in May of 1995.
With an enduring love for the game, at the end of his football
career Ellis joined the broadcast team of the Gamecock Radio
Network as a sideline reporter in 1992. He still serves
as the play-by-play announcer for Carolina football on Comcast
Sports Southeast and CBS radio in the fall and also hosts the
Steve Spurrier radio and television shows across the state of
South Carolina. In 2003, Ellis was named the voice of Gamecock
Football by ISP/Learfield and the University of South Carolina.
Now a successful lawyer, Ellis is a founding shareholder at Smith,
Ellis & Stuckey, P.A. in Columbia, SC, where he practices in
the field of litigation, including business and consumer torts,
personal injury and business and entertainment law. Ellis’ love
for the game has taught him how to succeed outside the world of
sports and has become a shining example of triumph. |
