With an enduring love for the game, at the end of his football career Ellis joined the broadcast team of the Gamecock Radio Network as a sideline reporter in 1992. He still serves as the play-by-play announcer for Carolina football on Comcast Sports Southeast and CBS radio in the fall and also hosts the Steve Spurrier radio and television shows across the state of South Carolina.
