As a point guard for the University of Mississippi from 1978 to 1982, Tuohy set several school, conference and national records, some of which still stand today. He was selected to both the All-Conference Academic Team and the All-Conference Team for four years, and is still the only person in SEC history to lead one statistical category for four years. He served as team captain for three seasons as a Rebel, including the 1981 season when Ole Miss won its first SEC Basketball Tournament championship and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance. Because of his contributions to Ole Miss basketball, Tuohy was inducted into the University of Mississippi Athletic Hall of Fame in 1998.
Tuohy is also the co-founder of RGT Management Inc., a Memphis, Tenn., restaurant management company, and has served as president of this company since its inception. He oversees all of the day-to-day administration of the current system's 62 restaurants, which include Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC and Long John Silver's franchises. Tuohy has been a franchisee with Taco Bell for 18 years and has locations in Mississippi, Tennessee and Cincinnati, Ohio. He was positioned as the restaurant manager of the very first Taco Bell in the in the RGT system for several years and has performed every facet of the restaurant business.
In addition to his small business pursuits, Tuohy is the color analyst for the NBA Memphis Grizzlies' radio broadcasts and CBS sports. He believes that the characteristics he gained as an SEC athlete aided his journey to small business success.
