Regions Mobile Deposit FAQs | Remote Deposit

 

 

What is Regions Mobile Deposit?
Regions Mobile Deposit is an easy way to use a mobile phone to deposit checks into your checking, savings, money market account or to load funds to a Now card. Other commonly used terms for mobile deposit are "remote deposit" or "remote deposit capture."

 

 

Who can use Regions Mobile Deposit?

All consumer banking customers that have valid Online Banking credentials, a Regions Mobile Deposit eligible account (any personal checking, savings, money market, or Now Card), and have the Regions Mobile App for iPhone, Android, or iPad can use the Regions Mobile Deposit service.

While access to the Regions Mobile App is available to all of our Online Banking customers, at this time, business customers are ineligible for the Mobile Deposit service. We will keep you updated as eligibility requirements change in the future.

In the meantime, you may wish to consider using our Quick Deposit service. Quick Deposit is a web-based application which allows our business customers to make check deposits from their office.

Is there a restriction on devices that can process Mobile Deposits?
Regions Mobile Deposit is available in the iOS and Android apps and can be used on an iPhone, Android, iPad and iPod touch.

 

 

I have a BlackBerry. Can I use Mobile Deposit?
Regions Mobile Deposit is not available for BlackBerry devices.

 

 

Is there a cost to deposit my check with Regions Mobile Deposit?
The cost associated with Regions Mobile Deposit varies based on the speed that the customer has requested funds be available.

 

 

I submitted a $10 check using the Available for Processing Tonight option, but it only showed on my statement for $7. What happened to my $3?
Deposits processed through Mobile Deposit will post to the account being credited as a 'net' deposit, meaning the associated fee for the transaction is deducted and the remainder of the deposit is credited to the account. This applies to any availability option/transaction selected for Mobile Deposit.

 

 

Can I deposit any type of check with Regions Mobile Deposit?
Regions Mobile Deposit can accept most check types, including two party (personal), payroll, and government checks. However, the following check types cannot be processed using Regions Mobile Deposit:
  • Money Orders
  • Traveler's Checks
  • Not on-us Official/Cashier's checks
  • Foreign items
  • HELOC Access & Credit Card Advance Checks
  • Comdata Checks

 

 

What are the availability options for Regions Mobile Deposit?
There are three different availability options available for Customers with a Checking, Money Market, or Savings Account. All timeframes noted are for transactions made before 8 p.m. CST. Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays are not business days.

Will I receive immediate credit when I select the Available Immediately option?
Yes. Funds are memo credited and reflected in the available balance immediately. These funds are available to the customer regardless of the business day or holiday schedule.

 

 

Do Now Card holders have the same availability options as deposit account holders?
Now Card holders can only use Available Immediately to process a load to their Now Card using Regions Mobile Deposit.

 

 

I selected Available Immediately and received a message saying 'Awaiting Regions Approval'. I thought this was supposed to automatically give me credit?
Available Immediately will provide immediate credit; however, this option requires a risk review prior to completing the deposit and crediting the account. After the deposit is submitted, customers may see one of the following statuses:
  • Completed – The deposit has been approved and customers have access to their deposited funds.
  • Declined – The request for immediate access to funds has been declined. Customers may try one of our non-immediate deposit options.
  • Awaiting Regions Approval – Regions is processing the deposit request. Customers should receive a response in less than 30 minutes on the status of the request.
  • Pending Customer Approval – The request for immediate access to funds has been approved. Customers must confirm the deposit before you can access the deposited funds.

 

 

When I take a picture of the check, do I need to capture the whole check in my picture, or is it okay to just capture the amount?
Customers should take a picture of the whole check. They will be prompted to take a photo of the front and the back when the app prompts them to do so.

 

 

Is there a limit on the number of checks I can deposit?
There is not a set limit on the number of checks a customer can deposit using Regions Mobile Deposit, but only one check can be deposited per transaction. There is a dollar amount threshold for daily and monthly deposit volume.

 

 

If I can only deposit/process one check per transaction, will I have to pay a fee for each separate deposit?
Yes

 

 

You mentioned that there was a dollar amount threshold for daily and monthly deposit volumes using Regions Mobile Deposit. What does that mean?
There are limits on the dollar amount of each deposit and the total dollar amount deposited each month. These limits are based upon several criteria, including how long you’ve had an account with Regions and your relationship with the bank. Your individual daily and monthly deposit limits are shown every time you view the Deposit tab in Mobile Banking.

 

 

What if I have a check that is more than my daily limit?
Regions Mobile Deposit includes a feature that allows certain customers to temporarily increase their daily deposit limit for $1. If you are eligible for that option, it will be displayed to you within the app.

 

 

Is there a limit on the number of times I can pay to increase my daily limit each month?
No, there is no limit on the number of times a customer chooses to pay the $1 fee to increase their daily limit. Customers cannot change or increase their monthly limit.

 

 

What do I do with my paper checks after I’ve deposited them with Mobile Deposit?
Once you have deposited the check successfully, you should keep the check in a safe place for 30 days. After 30 days, and after you have confirmed the deposited funds have been applied to your account correctly, destroy the check or mark it "VOID."

 

 

Are there any helpful hints to make using Mobile Deposit more efficient?
  • Make sure the check amount entered matches the amount written.
  • Verify that the back of your check is signed (endorsed) and labeled, "For Regions Mobile RDC service only"
  • Flatten folded or crumpled checks before taking your photos.
  • Keep the check within the on-screen corners when capturing your photo.
  • Capture the photos in a well-lit area.
  • Place the check on a solid dark background before taking photo.
  • Keep the phone flat and steady above the check when taking your photo.
  • Make sure the entire check image is visible and in focus before submitting your mobile deposit.
