Equity Process and Philosophy

Managing money for individuals, families, and institutions nationwide

Our equity philosophy is simple. Morgan Asset Management is first and foremost concerned about the fundamental quality of the investments we make and as such we strive for superior risk-adjusted returns with below market volatility. Capital preservation is a primary concern to our clients.

With these principles in mind, we attempt to identify investments that are proven to last in all kinds of market conditions.

  • Morgan Asset Management Core Equity Philosophy
Philosophically we believe we can produce superior risk adjusted returns over time by employing our proprietary quality metrics and focused fundamental research
  • Morgan Asset Management Mid Cap and Large Growth Equity Philosophy
Philosophically we believe that companies that exhibit predictable sales growth whether topline or per share when complimented with risk aversion controls will result in superior long-term results.
  • Morgan Asset Management Large Value Equity Philosophy
Philosophically we believe that undervalued securities will in time be appropriately valued and produce superior risk adjusted returns.
  • Morgan Asset Management Small Value Equity Philosophy
Philosophically we believe free cash flows are the best measure of the future performance of small cap companies. We employed this ideology in our strategy in an effort to identify those companies we feel have a better chance of outperforming their peers on a relative basis.

Morgan Asset Management Equity Process

Our equity strategies are specifically designed for individually managed portfolios.  These portfolios consist of the best ideas generated by our equity and fixed income research teams.  Our portfolios are constructed with three important principles in mind: diversification, discipline, and durability.

Our process begins by identifying companies with consistent earnings growth and stability, dividend performance, and conservative accounting as these companies tend to have the best risk adjusted returns. The research process begins with a quantitative approach focused on quality and valuation factors. To find high quality companies we start with the top 1,000 stocks by market capitalization and rank them according to our proprietary quality scores.  In order to find these scores, we evaluate strength and stability of earnings, dividend performance and conservative accounting measures. These scores are then assessed by our Equity Research team who apply forward looking quantitative and qualitative analysis.
