Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

Benefits

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance is a policy that pays benefits in the event of death or loss of a body part(s) or certain bodily functions (sight, hearing or speech) due to an accident.

You may purchase voluntary AD&D insurance, provided through Zurich, for you or for you and your family. Available coverage amounts are: $50,000, $100,000, $250,000 or $500,000. You will be insured for the amount you select, and coverage amounts for your family members will depend on the amount of coverage you choose for yourself, as well as the number of eligible family members you cover. For more plan information, please see the AD&D Summary Plan Description (SPD).

How the AD&D Coverage Pays

If your AD&D election includes Associate Only

  • If the qualifying accident happens to you, the payable benefit equals up to 100% of the amount you selected for yourself*
  • For example, if you choose $100,000 coverage for yourself, you’ll receive $100,000 in coverage

If your AD&D election includes Associate + Family (associate and spouse only)

  • If the qualifying accident happens to your spouse, the payable benefit equals up to 50% of the amount you selected for yourself*
  • For example, if you choose $100,000 coverage for yourself, you’ll receive $50,000 in coverage for your spouse’s injury

If your AD&D election includes Associate + Family (associate and child(ren) only)

  • If the qualifying accident happens to your child(ren), the payable benefit equals up to 20% of the amount you selected for yourself for each child*
  • For example, if you choose $100,000 coverage for yourself, you’ll receive $20,000 in coverage for each child injured

If your AD&D election includes Associate + Family (associate, spouse and children)

  • If the qualifying accident happens to your spouse and your child(ren), the payable benefit equals up to 40% of the amount you selected for yourself for your spouse and 15% of the amount you selected for yourself for each child*
  • For example, if you choose $100,000 coverage for yourself, you’ll receive $40,000 in coverage for your spouse and $15,000 for each child injured

*The maximum AD&D benefit for associates is $500,000; for spouses is $250,000 and for each child is $50,000.

*Your eligible children to age 26 who are unmarried full-time students (between age 19 and 26).

If your spouse or child is also a Regions associate, purchasing life insurance for them as a dependent (double coverage) is not allowed. If you add them as a dependent to your coverage, you will be charged payroll deductions, but the policy will not pay in the event of their death.
