We're proud to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month and to recognize the impact the AAPI community makes in shaping a brighter future for all of us. Read what Regions associates shared from their personal reflections on AAPI Heritage month.

A diverse experience

According to a report by the Pew Research Center, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders make up a population of 22 million from more than 20 countries and over 50 ethnic groups. This diversity covers a wide region from East and Southeast Asian and the Indian subcontinent to islands in the central Pacific. Chinese Americans make up the largest group in the AAPI community at 24%.

Over time, Asian food has become more popular and influential. This popularity began with early “fusion food” like Chinese chop suey created from locally available items. Today, these innovations include Chino-Latino dishes, Indian and Thai curries, Japanese sushi, Korean barbecue, Vietnamese pho and more – a delicious melting pot.

Like the diverse geography of their heritage, those in the AAPI community are multifaceted in their accomplishments. From scientists and doctors improving quality of life to movie icons, musicians and fashion designers bringing enjoyment to lives, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders have influenced virtually every field.
