Can I use my debit card internationally?

Your Regions chip-enabled card is already activated for international use. There are no steps you need to take before you leave. If for some reason you are declined while traveling internationally, please call the number on the back of your card for further assistance.

We monitor your accounts and will send automatic alerts to you if we detect suspicious activity. It is important to keep your contact information like email address and phone number up to date on your account profile, so we can notify you quickly about unusual activity.

When traveling internationally, please be aware of the following information:

  • Transactions originating from blocked or high-risk countries may still be declined.
  • Cardholders are charged a fee of 3% for international transactions (PIN Based and Visa transaction types) processed outside of the U.S. or U.S. Territories.
  • International ATM withdrawals and transfers are charged a $5 foreign ATM withdrawal fee. Fees charged by owners/operators of non-Regions ATMs may apply.
  • These fees will be listed on your deposit statement.
