What is multi-factor authentication (MFA) and how does it work?

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an extra layer of security that requires you to provide two or more forms of verification before accessing your account.

MFA combines something you know (like a password) with something you have (like a one-time code sent to your phone) or something you are (such as a fingerprint or facial recognition).

Regions uses MFA to help protect your account from unauthorized access by sending a one-time code (OTC) to your registered mobile phone or other contact method. This extra security step helps authenticate it’s really you trying to access your account, rather than someone else.
