Open a joint bank account

A joint checking or savings account can help you both access finances, increase savings and monitor funds, together.

Why open a joint bank account?

Joint accounts allow two or more people to pull their funds together. Each owner has access to the funds and is able to deposit, withdraw or use a debit card without permission from the other owner(s). Owners can also monitor the activity in the account. A joint account can be a useful tool for couples, parents and children or families.¹

If you already have a Regions checking or savings account and would like to add a joint owner, please visit a Regions branch with the joint owner.

Information needed to open a joint account (additional information may be needed on a person-to-person basis)

For checking and savings accounts, you will need:

• Social Security number or taxpayer identification number for the primary and joint account holders
• Personal identification such as driver’s license, passport, state or government-issued ID, etc. for both the primary and joint account holder
• A secondary form of ID (such as a social security card, birth certificate, Insurance card, etc.) for the primary and joint account holder may be needed
• Birth date for the primary and joint account holders
• Contact information such as an email address or phone number
